@Sheep_Overboard Siezing Iranian oil tanker would hurt the Iranian people a lot & would give the US a significant ability to support or oppose post war Iranian leadership. It's not a short term tool.

Futility, however, is bombing the shit out of a nation in which millions (probably tens of millions) of religious zealots are in charge and will fight to the last, welcoming the sacrifice. The Viet Cong were (only!) political zealots and they won magnificently. Ukrainians aren't zealots at all, and they'll clearly never give up and are humiliating Russia.
This is not gonna end well for the US.
