The single most seen and most infamous photo I've ever taken; this shot cost me a (contracted) job on the Microsoft campus and launched me into early-2000s "fired for blogging" internet notoriety, complete with getting Slashdotted. If you're actually curious enough to dig through the whole sordid story, start at the bottom of this page and read backwards: https://michaelhans.com/eclecticism/tag/15-minutes-of-fame/page/4/

G5s at Microsoft: My 15 Minutes of Fame

The infamous "G5s at Microsoft" picture that cost me my job and gained me some small amount of 'net fame two years ago. I'm uploading it to Flickr to (finally) relieve some of the demand on my webserver's bandwidth. ;) On the chance this is new to you, everything related to this can be found in my weblog's 15 Minutes of Fame category. However, the three most pertinent posts are: 1. Even Microsoft Wants G5s (The original post with the photo.) 2. Of Blogging and Unemployment (The day I lost my position.) 3. Fifteen Minutes of Fame (Summary and wrapup of everything that went on.)

15 Minutes Of Fame

I was internet notorious for a while. I’m glad that the whole mess has pretty much faded into the past, but here it all is for posterity.
