@paul here, in Australia, I've been watching the videos pop up on YT about his cases.
So fucked, on so many levels, especially how his implied rights in the US are being clearly infringed

Some of the cops' complaints were dismissed. The ones going to trial will depend on what Afroman can show was protected opinion (e.g., "KKKops" is plausibly just an insult) and what he can prove he said with some reason to believe it was true.
@bstacey True. I also posted the interview and ACLU link to the court docs in thread part two.
The one I am worried about is Count 4, invasion of privacy. It is still ongoing, making public matters of private life if it has no public benefit, even if the information is true and it is highly offensive. A hurdle for Afroman on this count is the Adams County jury, and what this jury thinks is "highly offensive." I live here. We're a small county. The bar for "highly offensive" is low with these deep red MAGA people. Books are offensive. Truth is offensive. This is not hyperbole.
I've thought from the start this should be tried outside of this county, if at all.
@paul
Those songs - though unfortunate, are killer doap.
@paul “Now I gotta go to court, because I got robbed”!
self-own is the new macho. I hope Afroman is acquitted and his song goes platinum!
@paul
Came here for the 🍋£🎂
#lemonpoundcake
@paul He owns the footage and they have no right to privacy while trespassing.
If you're afraid of being seen being the bad guy, the fix is to not be the bad guy.
@paul Have you seen this? It made my morning 😁

@paul I remember! And now they're suing him over it? That's very very dumb.
@paul since when is humiliating someone a crime?
@Iwillyeah
Avoid being humiliated by not doing humiliating things as part of your "public service" job!
@paul
@paul thanks for reminding me of this song!
@paul Reminds me of the #GeorgeMichael video (“Outside”) where he satirized his arrest for lewd behavior. [
from Wikipedia:
In 1999, [arresting officer Marcelo Rodríguez] brought a US$10 million court case in California against Michael. The court dismissed the case, but an appellate court reinstated it on 3 December 2002. The court then ruled that Rodríguez, as a public official, could not legally recover damages for emotional distress.
@paul
I laughed so hard at his music video. 🤣
@paul That cop was definitely thinking hard about taking a piece of lemon pound cake 🤣
@rjohnsonmn Lemon Pound Cake is the title to the album about it. lol The entire album is hilarious.
2/ video: Afroman spoke with local news this week about the case
The ACLU is representing Afroman.

@paul A headline that includes the phrase, “…to stand trial over music video,” is a really good sign you’ve got fascism. That this bad excuse for a frivolous case hasn’t already been thrown out already, gives the court that unmistakable stench of kangaroo.
3/ The entire album #Afroman released is called "Lemon Pound Cake" #LemonPoundCake
The title song:

4/ Who wants to hand out lemon pound cake and coffee during the trial as a protest ...lol #Afroman
@paul I loved that part of the song. 🤣 🤣 🤣
@Pineywoozle if you didn't see the post in the thread, Lemon Pound Cake is the album title for the whole release of songs and title song of the album...lol
@paul I did I listened to the lemon poundcake song and also would you like to help me fix my door lol it’s a shot of that sheriff looking longingly at the cake and then running the shot back-and-forth while he says you can have a slice fucking killed me lol
@paul The video capture of the cop taking the 💴 💰 out of his pocket is insane. Unbelievable.

@realtegan
Yes, absolutely: “if you suffer "humiliation, ridicule, mental distress and loss of reputation" for a video that shows you doing your job, either you SUCK at your job, or your job is not something any decent person would be doing”. 😐
What were they thinking of? Drawing attention to themselves, & their extremely poor behaviour, so unprofessional - for goodness sake: at least one of them - caught on camera - was a thief! Try to wrap your head around that!! A law enforcement officer stole money from the man! On camera!! 🤬😤😐
#LEOBehavingBadly #unprofessional #racists #Afroman
@Su_G @realtegan @paul Never heard of the Streisand Effect, I take it.
@paul And he wasn't High!
@Jason844 In the third post in the thread, I posted the title song to the album called 'Lemon Pound Cake's that made the sheriff sad.
FWIW, the sheriff lost his election and did get replaced. He had been sheriff for a long time. Afroman brought to light how corrupt his dept was. The new one isn't too much better but is better than the old sheriff.
@paul I'm getting really fed up and tired of all these corrupt cop.
