• RAM upgraded from 8GB to 32GB
• SSD upgraded to 256GB to 1TB

And I also now have a spare 8GB DDR4 stick and 256GB M.2 2230 stick.

Kind of exciting to jump into some Proxmox shenanigans... Trying to get all of my ducks in a row as I assemble the hardware.

Because the 11th Gen Intel Optiplex Ultra I'm upgrading to (from 7th gen Intel) is 11th Gen, apparently there are extra hoops for Proxmox iGPU usage (for Plex, tDarr, Immich, etc).

Missing iGPU-sharing features in 11th gen Intel means I apparently can't just assign the GPU to my Docker VM and do everything there. Because then the server becomes headless (which seems silly for a PC literally mounted to a monitor). So, I need to migrate from my current Dockerized iGPU-utilizing apps to baremetal versions in unprivileged LXCs. All while trying to keep the existing data intact.

(I'm trying to heed Proxmox's instructions to not do Docker in LXCs)

I created a "Shared Cost-Optimized" server on @hetzner (from € 3.49) with #debian13 and installed Proxmox Backup Server on it.

I also have an object storage for this #Mastodon instance. And the instance media files take only 143 GB from 1 TB for now. So why not store #Proxmox backups there as well? In a separate bucket, of course.

Not the fastest PBS I ever had, but acceptable.

I installed #Immich yesterday evening on my #ZimaBlade 2 using #Proxmox. The setup was incredibly easy, and I was able to directly upload some photos. However, this caused the CPU to run at 100% and triggered temperature warnings. 🫣

I need to investigate if there’s anything I can optimize to reduce the CPU load. I don’t want to think about what will happen when I upload all my 20k photos.

While planning my transition to Proxmox, I've learned that Proxmox says you should never run Docker in LXCs, but the community almost exclusively says to run Docker in LXCs.

Also, Plex iGPU passthrough sounds like it'll be an issue. Especially since I'm most likely planning to move my existing Plex Docker install over to Proxmox.

Huh, I forgot they were gonna do this today. I guess they decided to centralize my calibre library from sporadic locations to a centralized location with the rest of the ZFS media-pool with a metadata sync for redundancy.
I guess my setup wasn't optimized enough for them. What I do love is the info-gathering emails as well as task delegations to each other with 0 human feedback.
