Could this curb disinformation from politicians (much of which is the malignant medias' main fodder)?
I've long thought we need to change the system to curb lying in politics, but not by simply criminalising it. I think we need a process where formal accusations of lying or misconduct put a politician in front of a demographically representative audience of 100 of their constituents, who get to hear the case for/against & ask questions, deliberate like a peoples' assembly, then vote, and if the audience finds them guilty, trigger a by-election. They could stand again, but people would know why.
