I am looking to host a **de-federated** mastodon instance for 300 to 500 people.
I wanted to know what kind server specs I should go for for this kind of project. should I go for 8gb or 4gb of RAM, roughly how many vCPUs/threads, etc..

The JSON-LD Working Group published today a First Public Working Draft of YAML-LD 1.0. [JSON-LD11] is a JSON-based format to serialize Linked Data. In recent years, [YAML] has emerged as a more concise format to represent information that had previously been serialized as [JSON], including API specifications, data schemas, and Linked Data.

FWIW, I have been storing Linked Data (including ActivityPub) in an INI like format — because I find INI-like formats more human-friendly (to both read and write) than JSON.
YAML is probably better than JSON, too, in that respects. But I think INI-like formats are better than YAML.

I mean, I see no reason why this wouldn't work. `alsoKnownAs` is an array of names.
I suppose if Alice is following both Bob and Chuck, then B & C are merged into Dave, she won't "double follow".
But I wonder if there are any other gotchas?

I'm reading that it is a bad idea to switch ActivityPub server software on the same domain, it messes up syncing between servers. Is it still a bad idea if there is no intention to maintain followers or posts?

リストに登録してある #ActivityPub を使ってる #WordPress のアカウントの内の一つが、突然古い投稿を再投稿（たぶん仕様変更に伴い抜粋の文章が変わった）されたようになって、2008/1/8の投稿まで、５６件（数え間違えるている可能性もある）もリストの最初から表示されていて、他のアカウントの最新の投稿は、それらを全て遡らないと見られない。

ActivityPub user and category outboxes coming soon
Up until today, when you queried a NodeBB user or category's outbox, you would receive an empty OrderedCollection. This was done because the property's inclusion in the actor object was required, but it was not immediately apparent in 2024 how many people utilised this property. Thus it was easier to just send the empty outbox and pursue more urgent functionality.
While sending that empty outbox has not broken any implementations, but it has come to my attention that a few (read: more than 1) other implementors already do, or plans to, read from an actor outbox for backfill purposes.
The upcoming NodeBB v4.10.0 will contain an outbox populated by the contributions by that user or category.
